And here we are—just shy of the Ides of August…
For those of us who've taken a step back and downshifted into the vacay mode, the next handful of weeks will bring a stark change in the energy around us. No doubt there will be a quickening of sorts, a compression of our sense of time as the first hints of fall begin to take hold.
Routines and schedules will shift and become fuller—with all manner of obligations, appointments, expectations and less and less time for Our Selves. When that happens, we can tend to feel a strong need to be heard, understood and acknowledged.
Conversations and their etiquette can get short shrift and in various moments, we can jump ahead and hasten the flow by cutting someone off before they've had a chance to finish their thoughts or what they've been saying.
Really? "I never do that—I hate it when someone does that to me, so I don't do it to anyone else at all." Would that were the case. We're all guilty of this from time to time, allowing Our Selves to prematurely dive into an exchange vs. letting it play out in its own time. Not one of our shining moments, is it? From time to time, we all fall into the pattern of "Interruptions"
(2:37).
