"Everybody is the Guru"
Welcome to spring!—and all the promise of it.
How about a pause? just a mindful breath or two—a resource that is readily available— so that you can settle into Your Self and the moment at hand. It's stunning what taking a simple breath can do throughout your day. It resets the system, releases built up fuss and brings us right back into the present. No downside here…Plus, it's an
easy practice to draw on—especially as life is lurching back to "normal".
As we're beginning to emerge from COVID restrictions, it follows that we're going to encounter more and more people than we have in about a year. It could take some time to get used to interaction again—moving from isolation to connection. It's a good time to remind Our Selves that when we approach a situation with as much neutrality and equanimity as possible, it can be a lot less fraught and
"loaded".
To that end, and with thanks to Ram Dass, “When you know how to listen, 'Everybody is the Guru' (2:55).” As we're getting back into the rhythm of being with other people, let's create a different framework going forward. When we dare to consistently truly listen, we can glean all the information we need—be it a word, phrase, exchange, encounter or just witnessing a simple moment—regardless of whether we like it or
not.
