Hello—
And how are You?—seemingly such a simple question, even a hollow social formality just weeks ago. And yet…the weight of this is strikingly different and much more layered in its meaning right now, isn't it?
Let's just pause and let that settle a bit…
Our lives are in the throes of grief—for what was and can no longer be, while the groundwork for new possibilities feels much more like trauma than something to be desired.
How is your experience of "staying home"? Is it like a life sentence for a wrong you can't remember committing? Does it feel like long wished for cocooning? Or is it somewhere between the two extremes—full of fits and starts as you cobble together some semblance of a routine?
Make no mistake about it. In the midst of our foundations being razed, our foundations are indeed being raised—in ways we can't yet begin to comprehend.
So whether you're trapped with too many people in your orbit, feeling at sea that you don't have enough people there, or the balance between being on your own and being with another is just right, this is a rich time to settle more deeply into the art of "Truly Listening" (2:44)—before the very act becomes a stop sign, pattern shift or even a warning. While sitting with my own practice of truly listening as all of this is unfolding, I kept wondering what I might proffer as we're navigating these unprecedented times of chaos and upheaval.
