Welcome --
"Resistance is thought transformed
into feeling."
(Robert Conklin)
I feel resistance gets a bad rap.
How many times have you heard "You're resisting, you know that means you're not doing your work."
Really? The deeper I delve into my own practice, the less true I feel this to be.
Resistance is merely a road sign -- and not one that says "freeze, dig in your heels, and start making excuses". It
is neutral and just a reminder to pause, breathe and fully consider the situation.
Resistance is an indication that it's time to gather more information, time to consider other options and possibilities -- perhaps step back for a wider perspective, or come in closer to realize a new
detail.
Maybe it requires walking away entirely for a while. The key to remember is that it means slow down, pause, or even stop.
The next time you feel resistance, read the road sign and regroup:
Stop.
Breathe.
Ask "What is this feeling telling me?"
"What more do I need to know about this
situation?"
Get to know the way you manifest resistance:
- Does you're breathing change?
- Do you have an uneasy feeling?
- Do you freeze in your tracks?
What is your Bodymind's specific response?
Let resistance teach you and guide you into your next right action.
Listen for the whispers, they will not steer you wrong.
"The way I see things, it's impossible
to change things
without
encountering resistance."
(Evo Morales)
