"Rewriting Henry James"
And suddenly it's summer in this part of the world. Let's soak up as much light as we can even though it is already beginning to wane...
And while we're doing that, why not reconsider a quote from Henry James and apply it to the practice?
"Deep experience is never peaceful."
We can all relate to this, can't we? The truly deep teachings, chance encounters, and upheavals in our lives all have one thing in common. They are not peaceful.
Yes, they may offer respites of peace, and eventually the outcome can be quite peaceful. However, the actual moment itself just isn't.
Think back to any deep experience in your life. Was it not textured? tangled? not at all linear? certainly not predictable or easy to move through. Weren't there stops, starts, sidesteps, falling back, leaping forward and sometimes all at the same time?
Isn't this true of your healing process too? Though we have the intention of moving from Point A to Point B to achieve a certain goal or outcome, rarely is it smooth sailing between those two points. A straight line is not the course for truly deep healing, change, growth, and evolution.
What does "Deep Experience" (2:17) tell you when it comes to your own healing?
