"Magic in Mistakes"
Hello and welcome to the later days of October. Let's build on Van
Gogh's words from last time and consider a crucial part of doing
what we don't yet know how to do. I'll defer to Dame Judi Dench
for this
teaching:
" There is magic to be mined in mistakes."
There's that "loaded" word for so many of us: mistakes. How often to we go / have we gone out of our ways to sidestep, backtrack, or stand down from any chance of doing something new and different. We stifle Our Selves and hobble our healing process to protect against what we think might happen if / when we dare to step out of our comfort zone and routine.
And yet, sit with the reframe and the verb she's chosen: 'mined': "to delve into an abundant source to extract something of value". When we look at the practice in these terms, it adds a richness of possibilities and options that go way beyond the either / or of success or failure.
We can indeed (and in deed) not only discover but also avail Our Selves of these riches, so we can stop overlooking, hiding, and even burying our "mistakes". We can take chances we wouldn't usually take, we can care less what others think of our choices, and we can recognize precious options for what they
are.
Do you mine the "Magic in Mistakes"? (2:16)
