"It Doesn't Hurt Unless…"
Welcome…ready or not, June is right around the corner.
In keeping with this month's theme of how we have a hand in our own healing, let's consider another aspect of what we're bringing to our lives—or not.
"The truth doesn't hurt—unless it ought to." Ouch! That's quite the Zen slap, isn't it? And yet, that sting can
pull us up short and bring us face to face with something we may have overlooked—or—haven't been willing to see.
We all know and have experienced these moments. Things are "going along just fine". Then there's a look, a gesture, a comment that stops us in our tracks and immediately shifts
the moment. Whatever ease, confidence or assurance we'd been basking in immediately evaporates and is replaced by that rush of self-doubt, embarrassment, and sometimes even shame.
It's striking how a moment can turn on a dime, isn't it? So let's just pause. Take a breath and see what the
lesson is here.
Whenever our self directed spotlight suddenly shuts down, it's a reminder that on some level, we're not really present. We haven't "read the room", checked our egos, or been honest with Our Selves.
It hurts because on some level, we know it's true. Not only do we know it's true but also we have witnesses to this. Again, ouch!
How are you with
that moment of "It Doesn't Hurt Unless…" (2:05)?
