"You Are The Sky"
Welcome to the new year!
I hope you've been
able to ease into it rather than slamming up against it. The latter can be so jarring and not helpful at all as we're making our way forward.
So…with this in mind, let's opt for a reset and see how we might tweak the practice right now, rather than waiting a month or
two.
"You are the sky—everything else is just weather." This is a great quote from Pema Chödrön, the American Buddhist nun. What does she mean by this? Take a moment and sit with this image—breath it in. What does it say to you?
Metaphorically and actually, the sky is the constant. It is always there weathering the weather: light, dark, rain, snow, sleet. hail, breezes, gales, and so on. The sky remains. The weather is just temporary and always passes in time.
The next step is to consider Your Self as the sky, which in turn makes everything that happens to and around you, the weather. And what does the weather reflect? The only constant: change.
Can you be comfortable in the knowledge and with the practice that "You Are The Sky" (2:11))?
