"What Else Ya Got?"
Welcome…take a breath and read on as we're moving from April into May.
This time of year there can often be an acceleration of our routines and a heightened feeling of pressure (either external or self-imposed) to make sure we meet pending obligations and get "everything done". It can be a time of endings, which go hand in hand with beginnings and a time of literally and figuratively moving into the light as the days get longer.
And—while we're navigating these coming days, we can be faced with all kinds of choices and even directives. Things we're "suppposed" to do, or know or make happen—and the list goes on and on.
All too often we can feel that we don't have choices or are even being cornered into making decisions that don't really speak to us or even serve us. So what can we do in those moments?
Years ago I stumbled on a solution. I found myself
in a situation being given a series of viable options that I knew weren't going to work for me. As I heard each item being listed, all I could feel was "no, no, no." And then I heard myself ask for even more options.
Just because all items on a list have been checked off, it doesn't
mean that the list is complete. Really? Yes—more often than not. The very act of asking opens the door to other ways of thinking, which in turn broadens options and expands possibilities.
Are you able to say "What Else Ya Got"? (2:28)?
