Welcome to the new season and moving back into the light.
I thought it might be a perfect time to offer an addition to the practice—one that we can carry into the new year and draw on when we're feeling alone and bereft.
You know those moments, when we just want someone to be with us,
take care of us, love us and remind us that we are not alone—tall orders in certain situations.
So what if we deepen the process of self-care and remind Our Selves of the very things that we're craving and needing? What can we do when there is no one to soothe and comfort us
as we're moving through a tangled situation? We can say three simple statements to Our Selves:
—"I love You."
—"I will always take care of You."
—"I will never leave You."
Consider how these reminders tap into the very core of our being— and not just in moments of crisis, loss or upheaval. They offer a way to remember and access our vaious resources. Ultimately, we are never alone, even when we feel like we are and it's up to us to love and care for Our Selves as a priority—both of which can soften the sensation of abandonment we might be feeling.
